Alfred M. Gray Jr. was a United States Marine Corps general who served as the 29th Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991. A Korean War and Vietnam veteran, he was influential in modernizing Marine doctrine and professional military education. He died in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2024.
