Karl Marx was a German philosopher, economist, and political theorist whose work shaped modern socialist and communist thought. Born in Trier on 1818-05-05, he wrote The Communist Manifesto with Friedrich Engels and later developed his critique of capitalism in Das Kapital. He died in London on 1883-03-14.
