"I've had claustrophobia pretty well all my life. It started in Durham Cathedral, which seems odd because it is a pretty large space. We went up the tower because, as I often said to my children, these are the kind of things we used to do for laughs in the 1970s. You had to do something on Sundays. Everything was closed."
