In a basic sense, 'A Little Life' is a homage to how my friends and I live our lives. I wanted to push past the definitions of how we typically define friendship. It's a different version of adulthood, but it's no less important and no less legitimate than anyone else's.

I've always been a big fan of taking old songs and completely turning them on their head. Having no adherence to the fine tradition of the original version. Rearranging them and taking a different approach to them.

Social media is all about presenting the happiest, most positive version of yourself to the world. I'm here to say that we all have bad days and that it's easy to feel isolated - but the truth is that beneath the sassy facade all girls suffer from the same insecurities.

My first memories of religion were being taken to Episcopal church. My father was Catholic, but my mother, I believe, was Episcopal. So I sort of veered off into the watered-down version of Catholicism.

I really believe in the 'Glow' and live my life that way. It's about being positive inside and out and being the best version of yourself possible.

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can't make it through one door, I'll go through another door - or I'll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.
