Perhaps immortality is a gift of heaven rather than the result of some human effort.

There is no next after you are dead and gone from your own world.

I don't know what kind of future life I believe in, but I believe that all that we go through here must have some value.

Divine wisdom, intending to detain us some time on earth, has done well to cover with a veil the prospect of the life to come; for if our sight could clearly distinguish the opposite bank, who would remain on this tempestuous coast of time?

There is no conclusive evidence of life after death. But there is no evidence of any sort against it. You will know soon enough - why worry about it?

It's what we weave in this world that we shall wear in the next.

Every natural longing has its natural satisfaction. If we thirst, God has created liquids to gratify thirst. If we are susceptible of attachment, there are beings to gratify that love. If we thirst for life and love eternal, it is likely that there are eternal life and eternal love to satisfy that craving.

The thought of my sons carrying on after I'm gone is about as close to belief in an afterlife as an ageing pagan like myself is likely to get. But curiously, it's close enough for comfort.

I don't believe in an afterlife, so I don't have to spend my whole life fearing hell, or fearing heaven even more. For whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse.

George Harrison's passing was really sad, but it does make the afterlife seem much more attractive.

They say: There is this life and no other. We live and we die; and nothing but time destroys us. Of this, however, they have no knowledge. They can only guess.

Watchfulness is the path to immortality, and thoughtlessness the path to death. The watchful do not die, but the thoughtless are already like the dead.

Those who live in the Lord never see each other for the last time.
